Style Q & A: Three Sisters, Different Styles, One White Tee

Style Q & A: Three Sisters, Different Styles, One White Tee

Radically different styles can't break the bond between these amazing sisters. While they may not always raid each other's closets, there is one basic they can all agree on. From classic to edgy to bohemian, they show us how to style the Vert Toi Original Zero Waste Tee in three very different ways.

Samantha: Real Estate Attorney, Baltimore, MD

How would you describe your style?

Simple, yet timeless.  I grew up watching movies like High Society, Roman Holiday, and An Affair to Remember with my grandmother, so actresses like Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly were my first exposure to glamorous and fashionable women. I was fascinated by their ability to assemble simple pieces in the most elegant way. I try to emulate their styles with a preppy and contemporary twist, while remaining true to their timeless nature. These women taught me that your style should simply accentuate the amazing woman that you already are. You don’t need the highest heel (a special thank you to Audrey Hepburn for making ballet flats the perfect shoe) or the most bedazzled jacket to make a lasting impression on someone.

What is the best style advice you've ever gotten?

My grandmother once told me, “pearls go with everything...”

What is the most expensive clothing item you've ever bought?

In my everyday life, my most expensive piece is my “Ophelia” houndstooth coat from Julia Engel’s Gal Meets Glam collection. But by far the most expensive item that I own is my Amsale wedding gown.

Do you still have it?

Yes

What are the last three clothing items you bought?

A white jumpsuit from Gal Meets Glam, navy gingham sneakers from J. Crew, and a camel-colored pantsuit from Banana Republic

What item in your closet do you wear the most?

A white top! While my sister’s closet is mostly black, mine is predominately filled with white.  You can always find me in some variation of a white t-shirt on weekends and I love to pair a simple white blouse with cropped trousers for work.

Have you thrown away any clothing items in the last year?

No - I am a notorious hoarder. For me, each article of clothing holds a memory or some sort of sentimental value that I am never able to part with. My husband has to donate my clothes when I’m not looking.

Which celebrity's style do you admire the most?

On a more contemporary note, I am a Swiftie for life and adore anything Taylor Swift wears.  I also love Reese Witherspoon (as you could probably tell from my excitement when we went to Draper James in Nashville), Karlie Kloss, and anything Dior puts Jennifer Lawrence in. Kate Middleton is also one of my favorites.

What's your favorite thing about the Vert Toi Original Zero Waste Tee?

It's so versatile! I can wear it on the weekends with jeans or shorts and to the office with a linen suit.

How would you describe your style?

Eighties punk meets contemporary goth.

What is the best style advice you've ever gotten?

Always try to re-purpose. I have plenty of clothes that I've cut/sewn/reworked and been able to make into completely new pieces!

What is the most expensive clothing item you've ever bought?

Doc Martens! I prefer functionality over luxury.

Do you still have them?

Yes!

What are the last three clothing items you bought?

Joggers, a Sweatshirt, and a Basic Cropped Tee (Thanks Quarantine!)

What item in your closet do you wear the most?

My Faux Leather Motorcycle Jacket

Have you thrown away any clothing items in the last year?

None that I can recall! Probably some socks that needed to be retired.

Which celebrity's style do you admire the most?

Debbie Harry

What's your favorite thing about the Vert Toi Original Zero Waste Tee?

It's made very well and the hand is very soft. I love how there's enough room to knot it for a more cropped look.

How would you describe your style?

70’s, 80’s, and 90’s inspired, thrifted, bohemia

What is the best style advice you've ever gotten?

Wear what makes you happy. I remember getting made fun of for wearing high waisted pants in middle school and now they’re super trendy and they are all that I wear! Sometimes I feel like I avoid trends that I think are cool because I feel like they’re different and then I regret not wearing what I think is cool, so now I just wear whatever I want and not care about what other people think!

What is the most expensive clothing item you've ever bought?

I just ordered a pair of pink roller skates for my birthday!

Do you still have them?

Yes!

What are the last three clothing items you bought?

Fila Disruptor Sneakers, Baggy Overalls, and a Chain Necklace

What item in your closet do you wear the most?

A black turtleneck

Have you thrown away any clothing items in the last year?

Yes,  I just did a huge closet cleanse and donated most things, but threw away old cotton t-shirts.

Which celebrity's style do you admire the most?

Billie Eilish (I LOVE baggier clothes and I think her whole message of your body not being the focus and not needing a silhouette to be beautiful is awesome, and her use of bright color), Sabrina from the 90s Sabrina the teenage witch AND Sabrina from the present day Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (Her outfits in the old show are very 90’s and the new show’s outfits are very dark colors and vintage inspired), and Winona Ryder (again some very baggy clothes but mostly muted and dark tones, has some tomboy looks and also very elegant formal looks).

What's your favorite thing about the Vert Toi Original Zero Waste Tee?

I love the idea that my tee has an end of life solution and is made from organic cotton. Also the packaging is super cute and zero waste!
